Our Apparatus
5939, our ambulance
In August 2024, RPI Ambulance took delivery of a new ambulance, retiring the old unit from 2006. The new rig is a AEV Traumahawk type III and is the second box ambulance owned by RPIA. It is built on a 2024 Ford E-350 chassis and has upgraded features, including clear-lens LED emergency lighting, LED scene lighting, retroreflective graphics including rear chevrons, and upgraded flooring and cabinets.

FR-59, our flycar

RPIA’s flycar is a 2007 Ford Explorer placed in service with the agency in October 2014. FR-59 carries a full set of EMS gear in accordance with NYS regulation. During night crews, the flycar serves to transport the crew from quarters to the ambulance garage; during the day, RPIA first response crew chiefs may use FR-59 in a variety of ways, including to quickly respond to scenes.
